Hi,
I found this in a field in North Central PA, it's non magnetic, on the inside you can see the metal is a silver color (a small area where there's no tarnish) and the O.D. at the base / bottom is 1.730". No markings anywhere.
Thanks.
Looking closer on the inside, on the top and about half way down the side there is a tiny touch of rust in these two places.....probably a bell I guess - Thanks.
I do not know the size/weight measurements on this but too me it looks a bell that could have been used on a livestock animal like a goat or used for a hunting dog like when hunters will put bells on there beagles.. I use too be around lot of rabbit beagle hounds when i was growing up and when we went out rabbit hunting we will use bells just like these so we can hear the dog in the bush...
It's too small for a pedal car bell. Bigfoot's question regarding an attachment point inside wasn't quite answered.
---Is there a clapper attachment?--- Something for the swingy part of a bell to fasten to? Like a loop?
Thanks Everyone for your thoughts - here's a (not so great) picture of the inside - there's a tiny "dot" on the top & center of the bell or snuffer, something may have been attached there at one point.
while I was leaning towards the pedal car bell theory it occurs to me that the clapper attachment would likely be substantial enough to show more remnants.Another possibility is candle sconce or snuffer......
