Detector(s) used
spectrum xlt
Well here it goes. A fellow coworker has been admiring my finds for the last year or two and decides he is thinking of buying a detector. So I told him to try mine out to see what he thinks of it, it is a spectrum xlt. So tonight after work we went to a local park and wouldn't you know it, his second coin he finds is a 1934 Merc. I cannot believe it, I think he may be buyin a detector very soon. All in all it was a couple of hours of learnin for him tonight, we found about twenty more pennies some pull tabs and a few bottle caps. I only wish my detectin hobby started out that good..

Outstanding story and thanks for sharing - a new MD joins our ranks the beav.

As a new MD guy, I enjoy this much.......have only found 2 pennies to date (1973, 1979), but keep scouting out new places...and may try shortly a place where I may find some things.

all i found when i got my first detector was a single bottle cap:laughing7: it was that crappy harbor freight one

In 1994 I got my first detector, Whites Coinmaster Classic I. First target I dug was an 1809 Half Cent. Remember it like it was yesterday... From that point on I was hooked!
