Whites Coinmaster GT $400. I will probably never get rid of it even if I would someday upgrade to a higher end unit.

it IS possible to find someone willing to unload a mx-5 for $450.00
keep lookin' it IS possible to get a "new" mx-5 for under $500.00.
i would concentrate on the state of florida...i'm just sayin'
"best of luck!"

I would also look at used detectors if your going to buy a whites, you could probably get a good used MXT for that price and I started off with that detector and see no reason to upgrade as I can get dimes at 10"+ with some being at 12" before. Just check it out real good and make sure it works, if it does ever need repair whites doesn't charge much to fix them. The MXT is an easy detector to learn but is a very top notch detector and never feel outgunned when detecting with others that have a V3i or an E-trac as the MXT will find targets just as deep. HH

probably about 450 is all I'm willing to spend right now
For that money I would either be looking at a used Whites M6/MXT or be looking at different manufactures.

Teknetics Delta 4000 or Fisher F4 if you need/want a VDI machine. Tesoro Cibola or Outlaw would be a great choice too, but they don't have screens, are single tone & you have to thumb the disc all the time but for the price, I doubt you'll find better performing detectors.

Whites lower end detectors (Coinmaster line) just aren't that impressive especially for the price.

white's set the standard that every buddy copies
