before there were liberals

They forgot Lawn Darts, unpadded steel dashboards that you dove into when pop slammed on the brakes while you stood on the front seat and coaches that blistered our butts with boards for very little reason...

They also forgot teachers with specially designed paddles for "adjusting the attitudes" of some of their students.

"You boys see this paddle? Bet you want to know why it has holes in it, dontcha? Well, since this is science class, I will explain it to you. Aerodynamics. I have reduced the wind resistance so that when I hit your backside you get the full impact at full speed. Any questions?"

1965, 10 years old, jumped on my bike after breakfast, collected saddle baskets full of pop bottles, turned them in for the deposits and bought some lunch at the burger stand with the money, cruised around till dark then went home for dinner...most freedom I have ever known...Maybe that's why liberal thinkers like to throw freedom away, they have never had any and don't understand what they have truly missed.

Boy, does that bring back some memories, if the teacher was cute we would try to make her mad enough to spank us! :love4: I keep taking my wife's car through the mud, I leave my dirty clothes on the kitchen floor, when she asks, "do I look fat in these jeans", I say yes...and I still can't get a spankin' All she does is yell at me, darn it!

We used to say the Pledge of Allegiance every morning in school.

Seat belts ? :laughing7:

Our grade school took a yearly field trip to the local jail, it scared me enough to make sure I didn't end up there. I heard it ended when a child walked by a cell and said, "Hi Dad".
