...I found this scary ring at a middle school. It's a fitting find for this location because it's a rough place to detect.

Lots of trash, hard nasty clay and for some reason, rocks. After I found the ring it poured cold rain.

Just thought you might enjoy seeing it. ;)

What is that quarter looking thing? At first, I thought it was a Standing Liberty, but the reverse isn't right for a SLQ. I beat the lousy NC rain home today only to get soaked crawling under the house to shut off the water to a busted water heater.

There were absolutely no quarters to be found in this field. Just dimes and nickels and pennies. The other coins are a Sac dollar and a token from a casino.

I get the feeling someone went over that field and pulled out all the quarters, because for some reason there's a TON of shredded copper strewn all over. Plus, it's a nasty place to dig. I keep thinking, if they left the nickles, then they left the gold.

Maybe next time. ;)
