The highlight of yesterday's hunt, was not one but two beehive medieval thimbles. The second one the smallest I've seen. These date to around 13th/14th century. You can see why there called beehive thimbles. Also had the usual cut quarter, and a nice kings head medieval leather decoration. A bent Medieval spoon shaped pendant, and buckle also surfaced. robert.

Haaaaa, the usual cut quarter, I'd be jumping around like Ringy and George from diggers!
I recently found the tip of one of those beehive thimbles, I had a feeling that was what it was (thimble) Too bad it is just a fragment. Yours are very cool, love the cut quarter!

Wow,, very nice recoveries
I think I'll go inside and cut a few of my quarters.
The USUAL quarter for us is a Clad coin. lol
Congrats

Yep treblehunter, got to admit, I like beehive thimbles.

Interesting group of Medieval finds. I've never seen a 'Medieval spoon shaped pendant' - is it your first? I've seen similar has horse pendants, but yours does look different. Had a quick look on line, & they are not exactly jumping out at you.

They look a similar size to the 'casket' keys, that we discussed as not functional. I wonder what the significance of the spoon is?
