Ok guys and gals , I went detecting by Lake Mich today near Milwaukee and gave it some thought about detecting waist high..I Stuck my toe in the water and dang near froze it off !!!, So I had to put that thought off for awhile till I get something thats a bit warmer to wear plus something for the feet .There are to many pebbles in there for this tender foot.. I would like some ideals on what to buy that is inexpensive for such a outing as this one..would be very great full for any ideals..

thanks ALL

Chest high waders until you go a little too deep! I use a wet suit- check out wetsuitwarehouse.com

waders are a good idea... wetsuit also. But even if youre in warm water, i'd recommend something covering your feet. There are too many sharp objects in the water to risk cutting your foot on something nasty. Just think of all the sharp junk you've pulled out of the water... do you really want to step on something like that in bare feet?... not to mention broken glass.

Get a pair of water-shoes, or a decent pair of dive booties... your feet will thank you

A good wetsuit and reef boots. I got my wetsuit off of ebay for $30 plus shipping, it was advertised as barly used, but when I received it you cold not tell it had been wore at all, it looked brand new off the rack, not a single snag, tear or stain. It is a farmer john style, top and bottom, 3.5 mil combined for a total of 7 mil for the body trunk. Oceanic...

I would keep eye on Ebay for a good deal.

Dry suits are a LOT more expensive, good luck.

I would like to thank everyone for their replies ... I like the one for around $30.00 and the boots I saw for around $20...I'm getting a bit tired of the clads I need to get a few good rings under my belt for a change..Hopefully I can find enough in Lake Mich to pay my way to some inland lakes in Wi .. I been selling on ebay car parts and Antiques but i'm getting tired of that ruteen and need to move on to something else while the weather permits...I hope my 1280x will be good enough I won't have to deal with any salt water ..I heard to many bad reports on the 1280x for that..I would like to take my Silver Umax in the water but having the use of only 1 good hand might not be a good idea..besides it's not even a week old yet..LOL... I will let everyone know what I come up with in the next week or two..
thanks everyone
