Hello berty welcome to the forum - we are a friendly bunch set and stay awhile. Tell us a story - what part of the country / world you in - what kind of area ya detecting / hunting i.e. a park, old home site, the back yard, the local witches coven? Besides rain was it cold? I would like to see rain about now that would mean its above freezing and this white stuff (snow) would go away. I have to enjoy the hunt vicariously until the snow melts.

I really like the little figure it is strange and unique enough to have some real apeal. I just wondered what kind of site it was found in and what kind of people might have had it. Was it supposed to be a demon or a Christmas Elf? Sometimes context gives us possible clues. Say you found that at Notre Dame - it would have to be a leprechaun.

Good luck on your future hunts and come on back now ya hear!

Welcome Berty, My guess on your first find...a vintage Goblin board game piece, circa 1920-1930's. Keep detecting where you found it as kids obviously played there and lost items. Happy Hunting, Sub

Very cool first find Berty and nice to meet you.

Welcome aboard. Your first find is much more interesting than my pop tabs and tin cans were. Go back and go over the same ground from a different direction, there might be more there, then keep us posted.

Looks like smeagol from lord of the rings lol good find!!

Welcome to TNet, berty. Nice find!
Nick

I'm from a small city called gloucester in the UK it's got a lot of history there is a lot of roman history here with lots of places with roman names still, roman gold has been pulled out of the ground around where we live and I thought I'd give it a go. I go shooting a lot so have lots of ground I can detect on but today was the 1st time and only dug 3 holes before the heavens opened and I packed up I found £1 1p and that thing but was fun never thought I'd dig something like that up when the detector went beep :-) great fun the weather looks good this weekend so I'm going to hit the land hard cant wait :-)

Welcome:hello:

Not being funny, but if you found an interesting/unusual piece like this with a cheap detector, the sky is the limit with an XP:thumbsup: If you love it, do it, if not go home!:notworthy:

Welcome to the Addiction berty, Congrats on your first of many finds to be found........................Low and Slow...............HH
