Was an awesome find!! That's a great saved piece of history. Only could wonder who wore it and there history...
Likely a farmer from east of the Missouri river. Either took a wagon train overland and purchased some trousers and a canvas belt from a trading post at extremely inflated prices or boated around the horn and bought it in San Francisco directly from the proprietor. Apparently there are only three known S.F. proprietor’s that made buckles with their business name stamped into them.
 

Great looking buckle. I've never seen on like this. It looks like the CS buckle. Congrat's on a very nice piece of History.
