well its already been not such a great week, my uncle just passed away last week and I'm going to L.A. this weekend for his funeral, and then i just found out that a family that has been like a second family to me for the last 12 years there grandpa just died at 102 years old, and not of old age it was because he fell in the nursing home and landed on his head which causes a brain bleed. what the hell kind of nursing home lets a 102 year old man with severe dementia wonder around the home by himself. he could have seen a good 5 more years if he was able. :'( anyway i wont be on for a couple days so i will talk to ya'll Monday. take er easy.

good luck joe.... you say grandpa had severe dementia. i am sorry to hear that, but on that, you say he had at least another 5 'good years' in him..... 'good' by who's judgement... I bet not his if he was in his right mind.

Not trying to be a dick, but if you look at it through his eyes, he went out kicking, not sick in a bed, tied to tubes withering away. THAT is the way he would have wanted to go out. My grandpa died at 104 years old of gangrene because he got frostbite while squirrel hunting... If grand pappy lasted to 100+ years old, sounds like he was a kicker and strong man as well. What quality of life did he have in that place..... praise and remember him for his good times, not what ultimately became of him, because face it, we ALL die in the end, but on that, nobody is ever 'gone' as long as there are those who remember them, for the deeds they did, and the differences they made in this world.
