Found these hiking in the Big Sur area today, just thought I’d share! What I failed to photograph was that I dug through the soil on the double mortar and it had a flattened grinding area lower down! I thought they were a pretty cool find!

Did you look around for any pestles in the area?

Yes, but this was a quick evening stop to a new area so we only had an hour in the area. Very little time to look. I’m going to look for morels today in a burn area, maybe I’ll find something else too?
