I love that we're producing coins like this, but wish more of them were produced in non-precious metals for general circulation.

Note that McCartney's portrait does not appear on the coins, and the same is true for the others in the Royal Mint's 'Legends' collection.

That's in keeping with the tradition that 'commoners' (those not of Royal blood) are not usually depicted on our coins. Exceptions have been made for the portraits of Sir Winston Churchill, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Charles Darwin, Lord Kitchener, and Edith Cavell.

I disagree. We have enough junk coins, tokens, and medals these days. To be special, they NEED to be made of precious metals. I think the idea is great, but, I also think it should have been the whole group and not just Paul. He didn't cause their success all by himself. Unfortunately, It's kind of an ugly looking coin IMO.....sorry. It would have been better for a private mint to produce something more attractive and get Chuck's mug off the obverse if the Royal Mint just can't bring themself to do it.
