Had the info on these article and considered it jerked buffalo meat and other items. Down in SW Montana research I came across where there also cached buffalo meat. But a party who did return back to former lands attacked and killed miners near Beartown and south of Phillipsburg at Mccay Gulch region.
 

The SW Montana one was about how cache Creek got it's name. 3 different versions. 1 Indians cached meat in a cave. 2 outlaw loot 3 a rancher paid in cold cache, so he had it hid somewhere. Later another possibility came up, cached booze back when it was illegal.
