Bean Field Wet weather again!

I had learnt a lesson last night. Don't wait for the rain to stop because it doesn't & remember the water.

So after getting fuelled up, kitted out & camoed up, I hit the rain on my bike. The plan was to go in hard, bring out the goodie & leave before the field knew what hit it.

If I didn't get a goodie, 5 roman scrappies would do.

The clay mud had got past the sticky stage & was just slush. So less on the spade & boots.

After 3 hours in the rain I hit the 5 roman target, got the 6th on the way back. 2/hour is a good average even on my best fields.

Finds include:
Roman pottery (you know your in the right spot when you get this)
Nice Lead Token
1799 Penny
1852 French 10 centimes
Holed roman coin probably done by a Saxon as the head of the emperor was looking down at the feet. Sign of dis-respect.

Objective met; weekend NOT wasted. (bring it on!)

Cold & snowy here in the midwest (Chicago). . . I am now experiencing my first winter of "MD withdrawal" Glad you could get out. . . even if it is a bit wet.
