Just started hunting the beaches off of the east coast of Florida in the water (waist to chest deep) and noticed the EMI or chatter is insane. I'm running v1.09, Beach MW mode (all stock settings). When I make it out of the water and hunt the wet sand, I can run it at a full 30 sensitivity, but when I get into the water I need to drop it to like 19-22. I tried noise canceling with little to no luck. Can you noise cancel in the water while the coil is submerged? I have only tried to noise cancel before going into the water.

The coil cord is wrapped around the shaft so I know its not picking that up. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Update to the new version 1.11 For salt beaches use Beach mode MW (multi wet) or MD (multi dry). Do an EMI noise cancel on uncontaminated ground before you start to detect. You can also adjust the bottle cap reject if your digging a lot of them.

Good luck, but be careful you aren't in a lease area.

Does the Navy do any underwater or on-the-water testing of equipment in that area? Maybe at certain times of the day, they do some electronic warfare training.

I only hunt the drop off at the shore (knee deep) at low tide and waist at high tide. How far in do leases extend?

My understanding is that you may not detect further than the mean low tide line. I'm sure someone with more specific knowledge will jump on and confirm or correct that. And there are some places on the East coast that are not covered by leases. I'm sure I've seen a map out there somewhere showing all the lease areas.

No Navy activity that I know of. Other than the Navy Seal/UDT Museum in Ft. Pierce. Not sure how long after WW2 the training shut down. Still finding left over ordinance from time to time. I found a large bomb detonator on one of my first hunts with my new Legend just a little south of the Museum. People have found mines. DSCN4103.JPG

That type of thing is my worry at old mine sites. I haven't found any old blasting caps yet, but they can pop up at any time.

Be careful, those are really dangerous!
