beach MD on wet sand/ 1236 x2 Fischer

Hi,
I am new at this and I was hoping to get some good input. I seem to find money in the dry sand, but when i try to look in the wet sand it seems like I get lots of noise, but nothing is there. I turn the silencer ON when MD on wet sand and when MD in dry sand it seems to work great on the OFF setting. Are there specials settings or numbers I should use when looking in the wet beach sand.

What settings are you using. One of my detectors is the 1235 X, it works fine in wet sand. Something to remember is there are less targets in wet sand, and they are also usually burried a lot deeper.

Where do you have the sense and discrimination set to? If your getting a lot of noise you may need to back the sensitivity down some. On the beach you should not use much if any discrimination at all. The beach is a dig all area. If you had a Minelab it would null on iron and you could skip digging the nulls (iron) but you don't have that feature on the 1236x, if you use more them minimal discrimination you are descriminating out many gold and silver items since they come in the same range as poptops and most bottle caps.

Thank you for the help. I usually have it set on the manufactures suggestion. I did notice today if i go from 8 to 4 it will work on gold. I will post the other sites as well. Thanks for the heads up!

What setting are you talking about? Sounds like the descrimination.....

I was using the pre set 8 and then switched it to 4.

You don't say if it is the sensitivity or discrimination you moved from 8 to 4. If it is the sensitivity, that is what you adjust to cut down on the salt mineralization and black sand interference. Dont get hung up on leaving it at a certain position, just adjust it till the detector is stable, different beaches and or different locations on the same beach will need different settings, the goal is for it to be stable............

As far as descrimination I highly suggest you try it at 0 and see what you find............. At the beach unless it is iron you want to dig everything, and on the wet sand there is little trash you really don't want to descriminate there.

Set it at the preset for iron descriminate which I think is fully counter clockwise and see what you dig.

Thanks for the help. I was setting discrimination from 8 to 4 and now I will go to 0. I will work on the sensitivity setting. If i understand correctly, this will help with all the noise and I should then only hear the good beeps. I can't wait to go out again and try

On your next visit to the beach, set your discrimination to 0. Adjust your sensitivity until the unit is stable, once it is stable kick it up higher just a hair to increase the sensitivity.

If it was me I would start with the Silencer off to see how it responds, if your still getting a lot of chattter and popping, you may need to turn it on to see the difference. It is my understanding the silencer is for trashy areas, it should help with the salt mineralization, I have the 1235X and it does not have that option....

On sand that is constantly dry you do not have the high salt mineralizaton you have on beach sand that is wet on every tide change. The good news is that in the wet sand you do not have as much trasha s in the dry sand.............
