Beach hunting today

I'm not near you, but have some tips which you may have heard already:

1. Keep the coil close to the sand without bumping, all the way through the swing. So, keep it level. The more you pendulum/golf swing it, the less targets you'll hit. Others on the beach do this, which leaves more for you to find.

2. Try to make a grid and be patient.

3. Skin so soft! Apparently the biting beach flies have a thirst for Off and Repel. I'm told Skin So Soft works good. Else, wear long pants and long sleeves. The flies chased me away last week and I had to end my day early.

4. In wet sand, with your machine, lessen the sensitivity and see what you can discriminate out to eliminate false signals.

Good luck, report your finds!

dig rubbish

How'd it go?

I was asking k3travel how his beach hunt went.

Crusader... You da man! You consistently get great finds.

I was just joking, I hope it went well.

But we are Trash diggers, not Treasure Hunters:headbang:

Beach detecting is a world apart from inland but a few tips

1. Drag your spade behind you so you know where you've covered
2. Set you discriminator higher than normal as beaches are more trashy and you won't find as many interesting things that are non precious as you will inland
3. When you find your first coin keep in a straight line to that point as most coins will filter into the same distance from the high tide
4. Rings & chains will be lower down the beach (unless lost in that spot) as they don't roll with the tide like a coin
5. Know your currents as losses elsewhere will be dragged into hot spots
The sea acts like a giant filter and in time you will learn what lays where, trust me. Remember suntan lotion is a great lubricant :occasion14:
