I tried a permission where a house was demolished, the ground was still too frozen! So I swung over to Island Grove to the little sandy beach there - all modern clad today but it sure felt good to swing!

Might be different on the ocean, but Lake Michigan here of the sand is wet it freezes and is impenetrable. The dry sand is usually okay down a few inches.

Hello Everyone,

The transition between dry and wet sand in my experience does not freeze, lower tide conditions are even better. I was out last weekend twice and had no problem digging.

Beach

tryin to figure what beach to hit after the storm, will end up somewhere, wish me luck, don't have a beach machine but goin anyway.:hello2:

Hello "Bowser",

A nice PI machine would do you well at the beach. You will dig some deep Bobby pins :BangHead:, my deepest almost 20" and some very nice jewelry. I dug a nice gold ring at a solid 18", fortunately it was wet sand and the hole did not cave-in. I use the Garrett Infinium L/S, but there are other very good machines out there.

Regards,
