As I said in my post yesterday, I went to Lake Degray
again. Early this time.
Well, I got there early alright. I got to Lake Degray
about 5:40 am.
I didn’t know they kept it locked at night!
I waited til 6:45 and went to get a diet coke and snack.
When I came back at 7:05 it was open.
I hunted for a little while and a guy from Gurdon showed
up with a Talking Lady ( Garrett 2500 ). He said his dad
found a gold ring there a few days ago. He’s real green,
and it showed. Swings his coil like a pendulum.
I showed him my Euro Sabre with a 5.75 coil and he was
amazed at the light weight.
I was amazed at how his talked like a lady.
He got a spot I was headed for and wanted to hunt.
So later I went behind him and found a large men’s 925
silver ring. He just flat missed it.
I also got a 925 ear ring. And, NO, it’s not a diamond. I
also found a silver hart shaped ear ring that’s not marked.
I think I got 7 ear rings in all. I got a toe ring and a gold
colored small ring.
But no gold this time.
In the next photo, you can see where a, not very expert
jeweler cut the silver ring and soldered it back together.
They do that to make the ring smaller, but a good jeweler
will make to where it’s hard to tell that he did it.
That was a little over 3 hours of hunting. Talked to some
nice folks. The park ranger checked our permits. I had
one, but the Gurdon guy didn’t.
Even though the office was closed, the ranger went and
got the guy a permit and made him fill it out.
NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL A PARK RANGER!!!!!
It’s great to hunt a beach in Arkie Land.
Happy Hunting,
