We don't do big FP hunts during this season, we do those in the early spring/fall.

I think a beach hunt would be best. We could do North Ave or Montrose/Wilson Beach. Best of both worlds at Montrose, huge beach on one side and huge park on the other. We could barbeque too, and tons of free parking (I believe you have to pay to park at North Ave after a certain hour).

Any other suggestions?

Joe

I like the Montrose/Wilson idea. Gives more variety for hunting. I can understand the FP hunting in Spring/Fall being the best time.

I'm for Montrose/Wilson.
I'm for BBQ.

Can we all pitch in to fly Nick in to cook?!?!?  ;D

It would be killer to see Nick Pappa in for a group hunt, and to eat his food...BUT...you haven't even TRIED Goio's aracherra, or Bomber's pulled pork. Bring in Nick and some of his pizza and I swear to God I won't even touch my metal detector.

Would love to join you all for a group hunt and meet you. I would be down with any of the suggested locations. Hopefully there is a date that would work for me and many here. On a side note, have any of you carried your detectors on metra or el? I'm afraid it looks too much like a rifle bag.

Man, a group hunt would be cool. I hope you'd let me join you guys. I'm a beginner and would really like to learn from the pros. A BBQ would also be awesome, hope it happens, if anything is needed, just let me know.

In the words of Ice Cube, "That this 'tectin'-ass jigga will change with the weather... and be down for whatever"

Gotta go with the Joe, sounds like a winner. Is this Sunday too soon? The ground is still somewhat pliable and that'll beat the conditions in four-plus weeks when it hardens up.

And yeah, Bomber and Goio should consider themselves in demand!

This sunday could be good, but we'll have to see what the weather is like. So far the forecast is:

"Scattered thunderstorms. Highs in the low 80s and lows in the low 60s."

As long as I got a Beretta.

Baretta!?! Peace out Joe, I'll take care of weapons and ords. If only Lil' Lowbatts could show with her new machete. (the one I found in the street a few weeks ago, welcome to Elgin, Rwanda BTW) They're not just for cornstalks and suger cane anymore...

Going shopping in the morning, will get some Italian sausage and brats and charcoal.

I might suggest that if you have a collapsablebottled water lawn chair, bring it so you don't have to sit on the ground. I"ll bring beer & pop & some bottled water.

We doing Sunday weather permitting or just going for it? I can bring chips n dip and salad(potato or macaroni). Suggestions? I also have a pop-up canopy if you think we might need it.

Can't say that I have but I would if I had to. Just wrap the bag around the dector. Maybe some string or tape to hold tight. That way it doesn't look like a rifle bag.

Now I REALLY wish I didn't have to photograph the races at Road America this weekend. . . darn :P

All the best this weekend guys :icon_sunny:

Then it's on. Sunday morning, by boat or plane, car or train. All comers welcome as long as they can detect or look good when scantily clad. I will make sure to get there early Joe, just let us know what spot to grab for parking and gathering pleeeease.

Now if Nick would come along, we could show him that the spit is actually the long rod we skewer the rabbit with to turn it over the fire, not the fire itself! Nick!

Hey p2c, didn't you ever catch "The Weatherman" with Nick Cage? He walked all over downtown with that recurve and a full quiver, no one bothered him! Check and see if you are on anyone's route to the site and maybe hop along for a ride? I'm coming in from NW sticks myself.

This being my first time on an outing, I'll need place and time. You guys seem to be bringing most of the stuff already, I don't know what to bring. Let me know if there is anything else that is needed.

We will probably need two or more grills, can't bring one myself. Some drinkies and buns or rolls. Apple sauce or prunes or maybe just chips and dips.

Sounds good, yeah, grill is probably out for me, since I drive an HHR, but chips and dip it is. As for a time to start? I assume it wil be early, right?

Arghhh... I can do Sat. - got the OK to hit it from da boss, but Sun is very questionable. :(

I be der Sat early if anyone cares to hit it twice.

I'm starting in the big sandbox then moving around to some parks, maybe.

No plan, just going to go where the wind (or silver) takes me.
