Battle of the Bulge

My father was there, captured, sent to Stalag 9B, one of the worst POW camps the Germans ever ran. They put the Americans on a "90 day starvation plan". He was 5'11" and weighed 77 pounds when the camp was liberated in April, 1945. Of 105 guys in his unit captured with him only six survived that he knew of. There are few men left who were there and lived to tell about it, it was another fiasco of poor intelligence on our part. We lost a lot of good men there, bless all the survivors and their families and the families of those who never made it home.

My father inlaw is a veteran of the " The Bulge ". He is 90 and doing very well. He suffered frostbite to his feet. To this day, no hair will grow on his legs. He was Historian to his unit until recently. 83rd Infantry " Thunderbolts "
