MichaelB,

Somewhere in my files I have some information about this cannon.I came across it a couple of years ago, when I was very interested in de Soto, but the notes about it are not where I expected to find them. When I come across them, I will post the information for you.

Hey Michael, where was that Pier located? I was just thinking that would be a great place to find old bottles. We used to finds lotsaround the 14 mile marker on the bay side of Ft,Morgan RD (Strong's Bayou) Low Tide. ;)

As best as I can tell the wharf was farther west and north of the current convention center. Keep in mind this is before the channel was dredged to 55 feet. Old maps of Mobile and the recent construction of the RSA building show the banks of the river have moved east as land was filled in and built upon.

I know the spot at mile marker 14. I have a near perfect Union Belt Buckle that was found very close to that spot.
