So far I've been out seven times, each time from an hour and a half to two hours, and as I was leaving, the first bar on the battery icon dropped off. I'm hoping this is normal, that would mean I'd be getting at least forty hours on a set of batteries. I'll take that. That's using headphones by the way.

Depth seems good: found a dime yesterday, on it's side, at about 7-8 inches. This is my first detector, but I'm pretty thrilled with it so far.

The Ace 250 owners manual says the battery life is 20 t0 40 hours depending on what type of batterys you use. It only takes 4 double AA batterys that is good for that means low cost for batterys. Depth hard to say depends on your soil lets say 8 inches average......... Some days a little more and some days a little less.

I probably get 30 t0 40 out of energizers i buy them at home depot in the 36 packs. best depth is about 5 inches

Thanks for the imput. Have been watching some detectors on Ebay trying to decide which to buy her. She says my MXT is to heavy and she wants something she can set up, turn on and go. Have been trying to decide between the Whites Prizm V or the ACE 250. :dontknow:

I've only been out about 10 times ever but I use the 250 and the battery life seems great.

As far as depth is concerned, I'm still learning so I dig pretty much everything that beeps. I found a V nickel at 6-7" and I've found some amazingly small shards of metal at the same depth.

the 250 has more bang for the buck, it's more accurate than the Prizm V
