I'm just curious if anyone has a comment or knows where to get a great deal on batteries? I've got a rechargable battery pack but I also use alkaline batteries. I've tried all brands and types but have found that I get the best price from on alkalines from the dollar store. Typically my AA's cost me about .32 each and 9v cost $1.50 each. I've found that to be hard to beat pricewise and as for performance they've out performed any of the other name brands I've used. Anyone else got better pricing or thoughts? Dan

Thats where I get mine nowdays. But $1.50 for (2) 9 V. Yellow and grey in color. Some batteries are just a little different in size so may be a tight fit espcially the Md's that use drop-ins.

i just went to best buy and got 6 energizer 9 volt nickel metal hydride batteries and a charger. the batteries should be able to be charged up to 1000 times. i have used other sizes of them in the past with good success. it doesn't make sense to use disposeable batteries in anything else except for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Our dollar store must not be a good place to get the cheap batteries. All the kid's toys eat through the dollar store variety much quicker so I never bothered trying them in the detector. Might have to try them and see how it goes.

Thanks for the tip. Will have to check my local dollar store out on batteries the next time I am near one.

My XLT last so long I don't mind spending when I do need them. Now where is there a dollar store for gas HA HA. SASQUATSH<><

My MD says to use alkaline batteries or nicad rechargeable only. I have tried several brands of alkaline 9v batteries from Wal-Mart when I catch them on sale. The local Farm and Garden store had them on sale last week and I bought a bunch. The way the last so far is in this order 1. Energizer 2. Ever Ready 3. Rayovac. Rayovac is cheapest but don't seem to last as long. I change the out when it shows they are 50% discharged and then keep them to put in my electronic pin-pointer. They will run a long time in it even at half charge if you keep the sensitivity adjusted. That way I get full use out of them and always have fresh ones in my MD.

Albertsons (the grocery store) will sometimes have the Alkaline batteries in there 10 packages for 10 dollar's sales.

I bought a bunch of Nexcell 2100mah batteries on ebay for $1 a piece, usually they are at least 1.50 - $2. They are top quality and work great. I also have a Maha 304 charger that charges them very fast

if you have a COSTCO near you and a membership there, I saw some name brand batteries (energizer or duracell?) and they were dirt cheap. Just a though and goodluck!
