It was raining pretty hard this morning; we're lucky, compared to some of you, that it isn't colder. Not a fan of detecting in heavy rain, I opted to get a haircut after dropping the kids off at school. This, then, was my first visit with the barber today! In the afternoon, it was drying out and patches of blue started to appear in the sky. Halfdime Jr. was ordered to get his warm play clothes on and we headed to the silver farm. We started at an area that I had searched east-west in drier conditions; today, I began the north-south route over very moist soil. My first signal just happened to be this 14 Barber dime, and I knew immediately what the title of today's post would be. I was hoping primarily to add to the wheat total; I'm closing in on 400 at the farm this year, and moved within seven. Also pictured is either an 18 or 19 Buff. Not pictured is a small sterling kid's ring, missing a stone. Conditions weren't bad for this time of year; just last week, our ground was frozen pretty good and I wondered when I'd be able to hunt again. By the sounds of the forecast, I'm wondering again.
