Hunted an early 1800s homesite in the middle of nowhere today. The property owner gave me one chance to hunt so I had to take advantage of it. Spent 7 hours slowly grinding the front yard... Within an hour I pulled up 5 silver quarters all within 5 yards of each other. I can't even express how exciting this was for me. I've never dug anything earlier than a SLQ. To find FIVE of these babies in one day is just... yeah. The signals today were so wacky. The quarters were only down about 4 inches but none of them screamed at me. I can't imagine all 5 were on end but they barely whispered...

These two indians were both super scratchy signals. Again, really odd considering they weren't deep. I saw 1870 shine thru as I rubbed it and couldn't believe it!! I haven't cleaned this coin yet because I don't want to scratch it or lose that jade patina. Should I toothpick it? Soap and water?

I also pulled up these two toasted nickels. Both are firsts for me!!! 1903 V-Nickel and an 1868 Shield Nickel!

Another notable is this neat silver-plated "President" buckle. I wonder what they were president of...

I also found a neat twisted bracelet, another buckle, and about 8 harmonica reeds. Always makes me wonder what songs they were playing back then...

It was so peaceful to be on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere, dodging rain drops, listening to nothing but the wind and an occasional crow. It's good to get out of the rat race for a time just to reflect on life and the lives that were. Thanks for looking and HH

Very nice selection of coins!

Well done sir.

Outstanding digs! A hunt you will remember
Congrats on all those Silver Quarters!!

Wow, that is one incredible hunt! You should savor this moment for awhile!

Excellent hunt and variety of finds, and it sounds like such an ideal location to hunt and get away from it all!

Great haul there! That Seated Liberty has some miles on it, just think of all the places it may have been to. Beautiful Barbers too!

Steve

Wow, absolutely amazing day! The President buckle is from an overall maker. Shirley President.

That was one great yard ! To find 5 quarters and the rest of those coins is unreal. The President item is part of a suspender clasp

Congratulations on a great hunt. :icon_thumright:

Outstanding hunt! Makes me jealous. I think soap and water on those Indians will be fine and you will not lose that beautiful green patina.

some of us call hunts like this dream hunts, hard to top but you gotta try. Congrats on the sweet old silver etc. nothing quite like looking down in the dirt either in the hole or in what you just pulled out and seeing "old awesomensess, especially old silver." great job at chasing those faint wacky signals.

Excellent hunt. That’s a couple years of silver quarters in one site. Odd how some sites shift the VDI scale or diminish the signal strength. Silver quarters should scream. Congrats

Wooooooow! That is one incredible haul. Looks like you took full advantage off your one shot at this property. Beautiful, beautiful coins. Congrats!
