Had a fun hunt today that started out strong and ended with a HUGE surprise! Had a day off today so I started at the break of dawn and went to a turn of the century park I had hunted a few times. I started out with the curb strip and hit a 41 Merc and a couple of wheats. Then went into the park and an hour later while searching around some big trees I got a coin beep in between the pull tab signals. Started digging and thought I had a wheat or a clad dime, when the glint of silver showed up in the hole and I was looking at the reverse of a beautiful 1912 Barber Dime. I thought wow, 2 cool silvers and now I have a shot at my first ever Trifecta! 30 minutes later I'm under another tree and I get a beautiful deep repeating signal, 84 to 87 on the AT Pro, 4 to 7 inches. This is it I thought - sounds like silver, could be the Trifecta or better! So I carefully dig down and hear a coin sized pinpointer signal about 6-7 inches, and soon after that I felt the rim of a coin standing straight up against a root. It felt heavy as I pulled it out, then I saw a copper coin and was shocked to see what I thought was a large cent, then I turned it over and saw NOVA CAESAREA - my first NJ Copper! And in a 1900 park! That made my day, my month - and maybe my detecting year
