Hi, if anybody has any idea what this is, I would appreciate it. It's heavy, soft (can dent with a fingernail) dug in soil near a river at a Civil War campsite, not oxidized white (like lead) and not rusty, although it has a couple of small rusty stains like it laid near something rusty, may have small nail drove into it. Silver testing on corner did leave a tiny, tiny red dot, so it must have at least a tiny amount of silver on interior. One corner has a melted-looking spur sticking up. 14 cm long, 8.5 cm wide, and approx. 1 cm thick. May have markings on one side, but can't make out what it is ( a "W" "M" or possibly a "V")

Thanks in advance
Cavers

I found a large ball of lead when I was a kid ,it was the size of a grape fruit and cut in half. It looked very close in color to what you have.HH
