Bandit Cache Tree Sign

Posting for a friend of mine that owns the property, supposedly there is a Bandit Cache on his place. This is between Penman Springs and Stage Springs, Paso Robles/Creston area....Stage Springs di have a Stagecoach Stop 1880's.........Trying to identify this Tree Marker, Thanks 101_4209.JPG101_4211.JPG101_4212.JPG101_4213.JPG

Actually it looks like a plug....
 

It's an owl....Kgc. Pretty common in my neck of the woods. The two ears signify the owl.
 

You might take a look on Google Earth for this area and see if the drawing lines up with any kind of markers.

In addition, if the tree is the center point notice the line going to the upper right corner to the black smudge. Follow the line with metal detector and you might find something. Also you could just look. For a marker at the black smudge location and you might find something
