I am just wondering if anyone can help me with these deposits. The banded rocks are about 1-2 meters and I think they may be a banded iron formation??? The pink deposits I think are hemitite or feldspar???? They have Quartz in them. It is about 1 foot wide and about 40 feet long. There is a great deal of rust, Quartz, granite and volcanic looking rock in the area.

Feldspar or feldspar rich granite is a good call on the pink formation. Banded iron formations are sedimentary formations so it's less likely to be directly associated with granite intrusions, but the first photo might be a partially metamorphized deposit of banded iron or an iron-rich slate layer. Shale laid down in oxygen poor conditions would have un-reduced iron which (after metamorphosis and being brought to the surface) would rust when exposed to oxygen and give those streaks of brown iron oxide.

Thanks. So because I am so new to this I am a little confused about the formation of this area. I am in south eastern Ontario region at the beginning of the Canadian Shield so there is lots of granite but I am also on top of a fault line with a great deal of igneous rock. Many minerals abound. Much of the mineral and rock has scorch marks on the bottom and much of the Quartz is in very large tubular formations as if they formed in a lava tube. Where I am looking is in a valley that was a mix of marsh and small ponds. I think it is the layers that are confusing me. How do I determine each of those layers and the type of formation?

So after some more research I have found that I am in the "Grenville province" of Ontario which is a mix of metamorphic and igneous rock. Apparently it is a very complicated region which is compounding my confusion. Any info would be appreciated.

Is this rock found within the Sudbury Basin ?

No I'm further south than that but I think I'm still classified as being in the same area. The maps of the geological areas that I have found are not very good so I'm not positive. I'm about 4 hours south east of Sudbury.
