That rock you have looks volcanic,it looks like pumice.If its pumice then it should float in water.
 

It looks like a Pumice stone to me also. As already stated, it could be used to scrub wood decks with. It's also great to rub the bottom of your feet with. It easily removes excess callus buildup and stimulates the nerves in the feet to keep them good and healthy.

My feet are already rubbed rare from walking the beaches barefoot.

Its not pumice I have found this on a few ballast piles or close to ballast trails, i have larger ones as doorstops I found several years ago and kept because they were out of place, a geologist could answer, maybe I know one that would, just got me thinking, thanks
