Bale seal. In use until when in the US?

Until when where bale seal used in the US?Found one while hunting a soccer field. Says HICAGO on it. I assume it's Chicago. Has other letters on it. Just curious how old or not it could be. I understand it's difficult to track their origins.

That's a great question...Ive found a few, always near railroads, usually where a depot was.

Not sure about US bale seals.
But a YouTuber "peacehavens" has an informational site. He's found and categorized 1000s of lead bale seals.
