Hi! I got a new Whites XLT for christmas, and i have yet to figure out how to set it to over look the bottle tabs, that gets pretty annoying, but its fun, i guess you have to keep praticing and paying attention, i can tell you the best places to hurt, parks, old school grounds, drive around in the country one day and look for old home sites, usually a clump of trees is a dead givaway, go to the court house to find out who owns the land and get permission to treasure hunt, beaches are a good place, unfortunately i dont have that here in central texas. :'( Lakes (swimming areas are the best i think) If you find some good info on how to use your metal detector, let me know, im still learning also. Good LUCK!

I am new to detecting and have had the chance to do it a few times recently due to the good weather. I am borrowing a detector and really don't know the best way to go about it, where to look, which md I should buy, etc. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

What detector you need depends on many factors, some of the major ones are where you hunting, what your hunting for, your budget....

Check this site out, it has tons of info to help newbies wanting to learn..

How much are you able to spend on it is the first place to start. Second would be where, and what, do you want to hunt.
