For starts I'm not a coin person and this is about coins.
Today I was watching Pawn Stars. A guy brought in a $20 gold coin. The expert said it
was a $100000 coin BUT someone had cleaned it. The expert saw the damage right
away. He said a coin can loose half it's value by cleaning. I just assumed he meant amateur
attempts.
As it was, the pawn shop offered $12500. It seemed the pawn guy really didn't want the
coin very much. Maybe it was seen as damaged and harder to sell.
Like many here I like shiny but maybe before y'all take Kitchen Cleanser or what ever you have
to make pretty, a value should first be searched out. I have always thought some of the concoctions
posted here were ok for things of small value but give thought to something better off left alone.
