All Treasure Hunting
I haven't posted nor metal detected in a while as I have been dealing with multiple health issues as of late and I received a disturbing phone call today from my doctor about my 1st ever "C" word diagnosis with surgery coming soon.

So I thought I would hit the beach to calm & clear my head with some detecting time tonight and I was rewarded with lots 'o stuff including my 1st ever heavy necklace with 18k markings!

I was using my new 15" Nox coil along with my new, storm trooper looking, Eisenhower headphones and they worked great & brought me some luck!

Found that beauty in the Great Lakes shallow surf & I couldn't believe my eyes when I scooped up that necklace! 2 feet in length & 80 grams on the scale.

It has a religious medallion which hopefully means good luck on my journey to being a cancer survivor!

All the best of luck to all of you!

that is a serious hunk of gold, what a thrill that must have been. wtg and godspeed on your health journey

I'm very sorry to hear about your medical worries. Its amazing how getting out to do some detecting works great in terms of olffering a distraction and providing some calm. The gold chain is pretty damn epic. I'm sure it brightened up your day. Best wishes.

Thanks everyone for all the best wishes. ARC, here's some more pics of the chain. All the links look solid, but I am not familiar with heavy necklaces, like I said it's the 1st one like this that I have found. I did the magnet test and it passed.
I will have to take it to a local jeweler and have it looked at. It sure is heavy.

Decent pictures of it EXCEPT the clasp....:)

Need the clasp area pics. (both sides of crab claw clasp and close clear pics of complete small joining ring.. aka "jump ring"... IE: the small round ring that connects the claw clasp to the chain itself.... complete... need to see if that ring is soldered or "open")

Looks like a solid piece on the one end.

It is suspect to me... sorry to say.
I cannot see if that jump ring is soldered or not... not sure if the area i am looking for is blocked from view... or the solder job was just that good.
To not see it makes me wonder further actually.
Perhaps rotate that jump ring until you see a split or solder marking then retake pics.
And the crab claw clasp is also unmarked.... this is not an end all but can be a red flag in most cases... but again not definitive as they can and are replaced often times with other clasps of cheaper make etc when broken or lost PRIOR obviously to the loss condition to which you have now found it,
Losss of clasp or ruining of claps when chain is pulled is often times the culprit.
In your instance chain just came off over head ... OR clasp failed to .... um..... clasp. heh

It would be great if he could provide photos of the 2 areas outlined.
