And I knocked myself out!
We finally got some decent rain and from prior experience I knew that if there were any keepers to be found, then I needed to get back out there while the soil was nice and soft and wet. I do believe it makes a difference!
The finds here are very few and far between, but there are still enough there to keep me going back. After reading the replies to my Injun post I thought I would try looking in the 'hard to get to areas' (thanks for the reminder ya'll). Went to what looks like was the back door area of the burned down house (same area as I found the Injun) and there was an old rotten stump from a bush. With the soil being wet I thought I would try to kick the stump out of the hole, so I gave a swift kick and it went flying through the air! Scanned the now gaping hole and found a nail. :P BUT, after scanning again found a nice 1893 Libery 'V' nickel!
Doodled around that immediate area and didn't find anything else so I went to the edge of the rock wall.
Scanned inbetween the rocks, got a nice beep, found a key and scanned the hole again....the best looking Injun I have ever found! 1890.
After wondering around up there I decided to go back to the area that I had 'gridded' :P and found a 1939 Merc!!! Guess I'm not a good gridder!
I had gone a couple of days before and found some regular change and two tax tokens and just added them to the picture for today. Also found a Jew's harp, a key, a pin, buckles and of course bullets.
