Got out on a busy sunday. Way to many people for metal detecting but I went for it anyway. Thought I would drown with so much clad in my pocket. Found three coins id never seen before , they turned out to be john adams 1$ coins. Ill be honest I didnt even know about these coins. I got 1 10k gold mans ring with a black stone in it. Also got a mangled piece of gold bangle bracelet, A few cheap steel hoop earrings, and a gold over silver heat earring. Got another piece of silver jewelry of some sort, possible earring or pendent. I got a Kennedy half too. I had so much trash that I had to get out of the water and dump it halfway threw my session today. I could have bought lunch with my clad today. Im a tired fellow right now , did a lot of digging. photo-92.JPG

Fantastic Scooping Bart! Congrats on the nice gold ring and gold bit-o-honey, hey gold is GOLD! Sub 8-)

Gold is gold. Congrats on a couple of them. And the clad. Nice

Congratualtions on the Golden hunt with a sprinkle of other fine keepers. :occasion14:

Has any one else ever found any of these adams 1$ coins before ?? I didnt even know that the U. S. Was producing them. I guess they are more of a commemorative type coin. Never got one in my change before. I guess they are like the susan b anthony coins,Spendable but not very popular. Unfortunately they dont hold up in salt water any better than than the rest of the clad does. They just dont make money like they used too!! The cobs that ive found have been in the sand for 280+ years and are in far better shape than any of my modern clad.

A series of presidential dollar coins were released to general circulation.
They tarnish quickly and having lettering on their outer rims was not real effective quality wise and subject to rapid wear.
Banks still have them when asked, at least mine does ,and some machines use them like carwash change machines.
Outside of St. Patricks day I don't use them either.

Congrats on pulling the gold and the other finds. I personally only detect beaches when they are not very active.

Great haul, man. Can I assume that the Minelab in your signature is an Excal? I picked one up off of eBay and am starting to play around with it.

My CTX is way easier to interpret...

You are oh so right loco-digger. Never again on a day like that. I had kids waving at me under water, people swimming into me,teenagers hitting me with footballs. It took a lot of patience to get that gold ring out from under everyones feet. Im gonna stick to overcast weekdays.

I would love to get my beep on, down in the Keys.... Great finds, good that you scored!.....but....
The second pic down, the big hoop earring, with what looks like a goofy/accidental sad face, well....my first thought was, that would make a great tattoo!:laughing7:

Yes I use the excal 2 most of the time. Its the best hammer in my toolbox. It is showing some age. I just had to re wire my power supply cable. I was gonna send it in but I just went for it and did the solder work myself. Works great now. My knobs all fell off within a year, and I had to epoxy my coil back into the shaft. I know that all sounds bad but the old girl can read a hairpin 10 inches down. I routinely find earring backs and hair hooks. Sometimes the items are so small that they often pass through the drain hole in my pockets. Unlike most people I see these machines as tools made to be used and even sometimes abused. I will shamefully say that at times I have gone weeks without rinseing the salt water off. I think I bought it in 2012. I use it on land and in the water.

Thanks for that releventchair. Guess ill throw them in with the rest of the rotten clad. Almost got another full cigar box full. I swear im gonna bury these boxes of rotten clad and leave treasure maps in my will.
