Finally got out today, been waiting for a nice day, same school, went over the same area again and found more stuff all total: 7 quarters, 18 dimes, 5 nickels, 27 pennies. 3 wheats: 1958, 1942 and 1954-D. Also found 2 Sterling toe rings. No silver coins this time. I was out in the middle of the field and I turned around and a police car was behind me! Wanted to know if I found anything, I had just got there and only found two pennies. Chatted for a while and then he took off! Back to hunting! Right before I left for the day I found an unknown coin, too corroded to tell what it is, any ideas? A little bigger than a quarter, not a perfect circle, I nicked the side and it looks like cooper. Plenty of playground still to search.

Re: Back to the School Yard

It could be some kind of token. Nice finds.

Re: Back to the School Yard

Outside chance a New Jersey Copper, but I can't read anything on it. It is really corroded.

Soaked it for awhile, still not much difference, will try overnight.

Thanks Everybody! Still trying to clean this coin, starting to get a little definition but a ways to go. Can vaguely see a number, but still not close to figuring it out.

Good finds. I bet that cop sneaking up on you gave you a scare. I had a cop checking out me and my buddy once in an area cleared for houses or something that never happened. I think technically it was no trespassing there, but I think he saw that we were harmless and eventually left without talking to us.

Awesome finds!! congrats! even better luck next go around!!
