Relic Hunting
Hey guys,

Been living vicariously through everyone else's forum posts while figuring this new Dad stuff out :laughing7: That being said, I was able to sneak away for a few digs while Mama and baby were catching naps. Hit the cut Real site with Stef45 hoping to unearth a few more relics. While no silver this round, it was raining flat buttons!

While the site was a confederate field hospital, didn't pull any definitive military types. These 2 were my favorites- a gilted flower button and barely visible 6 point star.

Also manage a pair 18th century leather bosses.

In the same general area along the coast a recovered 3 horse tack related buckles, a partial keeper buckle, and a shoe fragment.

Also managed a killer brass lock plate and pewter spoon

My favorite dig was an unknown when I recovered it from the mud...just a small rounded piece of brass. After getting it home, and stumbling across a picture while researching, I was able to save the hunt with a military item- Civil War shoulder scale key!

I recovered the mounting bracket at the same site, only a few yards away from the key.

Looking for a bit of help with these whatzit...2 pieces dug in different plugs. Anyone recognize these?

All in all a great week to be a new Dad and a few relics to scratch the itch :laughing7: As always thank for looking and good luck out there!

That's a great hunt! I could dig flat buttons all day. You never know when that special relic will surface

Excellent hunt man :icon_thumright: Great to see that shoulder scale key. I'm looking for one of those in an area of plow destroyed scales I've slowly been recovering. I'm still missing two scales and the top part... And maybe the key is there too! Flat buttons are always awesome to dig and the flower one is really cool.

Thanks Brad, digging a complete scale especially one pieced together over time would be incredible.
