I was in Eastern Ontario yesterday and noticed the grass had recently been cut at the WWI military training field and decided to give it another go!

No buttons or coins this time, though I did find a couple of early iron horse buckles and a very cool aluminum token!

I did an online search when I got home and found that James Lackie's Bakery was listed in the local phone directory of 1922 - 23. The only reason I pictured the '39 Penny was that the patina on it is amazing and reminded me of how your Indian Head Pennies look when they come out of the ground!

Thanks for looking,

Nice finds! I betcha that token is worth a bit more that two loaves of bread nowadays! Congrats and HH!

This is only my third token find in three years of detecting and I had no idea that 'bread tokens' even existed! :icon_scratch:
The last two tokens I found were both 'milk tokens'.

Thanks for your post JD,
Dave

very nice token

Thanks JG!

Nice finds and photographs ANTIQUARIAN.

Thank you sir! :icon_salut:

I sent the token for a 10 hour tumble in the polisher today and here are the results!
Here's a better picture of the iron horse buckles as well!

Let me know what you'all think,
Dave

Updated Pics - Horse Buckles tumbled Clean!

I've been tumbling the iron horse buckles I found last Friday for the past 72 hours. Other then initially giving them a bath in soap and water that is all the cleaning I did prior to putting them in the tumbler. Here's the end result!

I have included as found, plus before and after pics!
Thanks for looking,
Dave

Cool token Dave ! Congrats
Glen

headstamps on those rounds?
.303?

Here's a pic of a few of the shell casings I've found the last two times I was on the site. I'm no bullet expert up here in Canada, I would assume that these are all 'blanks' as I found them on a WWI military training field? :icon_scratch:

I'd never even seen a real bullet until I started detecting!
