Well folks, I am still trying to get out and detect more, before the ground freezes and the year is over. That said, I had a couple of hours to hunt my best permission, again.
I have a spot that is (MAYBE) where an old lady (80s and still going) said she had seen foundations and been told about a plantation-house with slave's quarters, when SHE was a little girl (tho I'm not sure I've even found THAT site, yet).
What I have found so far hasn't given me a date, to 'age' this site, and her memory was vague, so this may only be within acres of the plantation-site (the farmer has much, much more land, too)!
What I found in this brief foray was all iron, except one lantern mechanism (to go with the other two I've found before), more square nails than I wanted to dig, a 12"+ long spring(?) with flat, more un-IDed pieces of metal, another buckle, a lynch-pin, some glass/pottery that might help 'date' my site, and the real 'gem' of the day- a GEM stove piece (sorry couldn't resist)!
Any input as to what I found, as far as what it is and/or dates I am looking at would be hugely appreciated!
I had hoped to find much info on the Gem stove, but only a few vague references (probably a Victorian Parlor stove?)- mostly people trying to sell one. Does anyone here know when Gem started making stoves?
Still no coins- which would really help me determine the age of this site...
Keeping digging for the truth, Make sure you VOTE, and God bless America!

Nice wick turner and other relics. Haven't found anything more about GEM stoves than you have. I think there was also a manufacturer of skillets and baking pans named GEM.

Cool finds... but unfortunately I can't enlighten you any! Thanks for sharing with us.

I have found two of those triangular shaped things accompanied by lots of square nails. Sure would like to know what they are.

It looks to me to be a cutting blade for a farmer's grass or hay mower.

Look at the knob of the wick turner. Sometimes they have a patent date. Might help some. Gary

No, man, thanks but I didn't get one with a date... BUT, I just posted yesterday's finds and they are 'way better!

Congrats on the nice relics! :occasion14:
