I hit two spots after I dropped off my son(Indianhead, his username on our site)at work, found lots of garbage and trash, one dime, one quarter. I picked up my son at work, we hit a spot for quick hunt and I found an old CLIQUOT CLUB KLEE KO Soda Pop Bottle. We then had a great dinner to fuel up for that same field I found that wiffletree tip in. (last time we were there we spent about ten whole minutes) I convinced Travis that we needed some time there. We weren't there five minutes when he ran across the field to show me a crusty old coin(so exciting, I was convinced it was a Indian, and even thought it was something older. Ha, it's funny how all those things race through your mind when your doing this. Anyhoo, I licked the coin(tasted horrible, got bug spray mixed in) and cleaned it enought to know for sure it was a coin. I sent him back to soak it. We hit it hard for about another hour. I ended up across the road in the other field about four hundred yards from where we found the other stuff, leaving him to search it down. I was looking hard also for arrow heads(no luck yet). Finally he joined me and we decided to head for the truck. I walked a straight line towards the truck(on that same line past the truck was where the stuff has been coming out of the ground) About 15 yrds from truck I finally get a ping, loud, about a 76 on my AT pro, I pinpoint it, 2 inches down, scan with the pro pointer and I could tell it was small. I popped a plug about the size of a handball. At first, I busted the tiny clump, chased something down to a tiny clump of dirt and picked out a what I thought was a coin. We poured some water on it, and from finding the other Treble Gilt Stand d colour button, I knew I had another button. This one is allot more crusty then the other one I found. I'll post a pic, but I'm not too confident you guys will be able to see. We had a real hard time reading the letters with the loop, but finally id'ed it. Plated London. I almost forgot, Trav found a 1918 wheatie, that's what that coin was.

I love it, I'm so hooked, to think all that stuff is out there just waiting to be rescued, I don't have enough time.:icon_thumleft:

That's a nice handful of goodies! I, too, love those old pop bottles...they certainly had some "style" to them.

Just in case you don't already know... when you see the word "plated" in an early-1800s button's backmark, it always meant the button was silverplated. The term "gilt" meant goldplated.

Also, based on the SPECIFIC backmarks you mentioned, both of those buttons were made in Britain and imported here, because until the early 1830s the young US button-making industry was unable to produce enough metal buttons to satisfy the demand for them from the fast-growing US Clothing Industry.
