Metal Detecting
With beautiful weather I had to get out detecting. I decided to try a colonial site not far from my home. The best part is this site is located in the middle of a Civil War skirmish site. So while walking to my secret spot, which has produced a good many flat buttons and a few 1700s coins, I got a nice bullet signal, out came the shot 3 ringer, first signal of the day.

Once at my site I tried something different, having worked the site very hard in the past I decided on a large coil and all metal mode on the Garrett AT Max, with most iron having already been dug I was able to get some deep signals, I was able to pull 3 flat buttons.

Then came the interesting iron find, located about 12-14 inches down, initially I thought it was a small hunting type knife, turns out it may be a musket lock plate. I think this one is going to be much older than the 2 previous I've found this year.

Before leaving the site I found half of an old hair comb and most of a bone handle 2 prong fork. Walking out I managed 1 more 3 ringer before heading home. It was a great day and produced some great finds.
