Relic Hunting
Hey all its been awhile. Our trio recently obtained permission to hunt some primo fields in close proximity to the field of legends. It borders a river and the house across the street is a beauty and dates back to 1722. This is the total from our last 3 hunts. Pounded it out at 8hrs plus a day, lots of walking and trying to sniff out the glazed pottery and brick work. We finally honed in on some hot spots in each of the fields. There is Liberty cap cents (3 of them) found by each of us in a 20x20 area. Thats a feat in itself. Not a crazy amount of buttons but plenty to keep us happy. Large cents from the 1830s and earlier. KGII's ,KGI, Spanish half reales, shoe buckle buts, modern silver and indians. And my favorite finds are the 3 nipple buttons that I found in the one field. This makes about 8 or 9 in the 2 mile radius. Also the silver knee buckle would have been sweet if complete also. The good thing about these fields they are ready to be plowed any day and we already found a good deal of relics. Also there is another hundred acres still in corn stalks that will be chopped down soon in the middle of it all. Hopefully we can get a few more hunts in before the fishing takes hold again! Thanks for looking.

Your finds are simply amazing, Jim. Only too bad you are limited by the planting schedule. I'd be in fields like those in the dark of night too!

Good Lord ! I've never seen 3 Liberty Cap Large cents in one post - Yeah I know it's 3 hunts and group finds, but this is extraordinary !
If it were allowable for group and multi - hunts , I'd be all over that BANNER vote !!!

Great finds! Thanks for sharing...

What an amazing group of finds. You guys have some great ground to hunt. Hope you turn up a lot more when the fields get cut and plowed.

Thanks guys. I'm fortunate to live in a rich commerce area. I believe it was tobacco fields in the colonial days. The only problem is they loved using fertilizer. And 1 in 5 coppers are usually the only ones recognizable. Its hit or miss on condition. But definitely worth walking the miles a day to dig it up and save it from further decay.

That's quite the productive site you have there Jim. Those don't come around too often, but when they do its a blast hunting them. Hopefully you guys can clean that spot out before planting. If not, at least you have something to look forward to in the fall. Good luck to you guys.

What an amazing group of finds. Do they till these fields? If they do, you have a nice place for years!

Old Dude yea they spreading little fertiziler rocks while we were detecting I'd imagine they are probably going to cut harrow it all down. Then the race is on before the planted stuff sprouts.

That's a nice pile of finds for 3 hunts. It would take me a long time to pull out those kind of finds. No fertilizer where I'm hunting but the coppers are still toast. Congrats
