Spent a couple hours yesterday and today at the cellar hole I located recently. Both days it seemed I spent nearly two hours finding nothing. I think all my finds came when I had about a 1/2 hour left before I had to leave :D Yesterday I spent some time in the stone wall enclosure area and found all the buttons in the first pic. Dandy button and tombac and one with a [crown] London backmark.

Then today I went back behind the cellar hole because I didn't know what else to do and was randomly hunting in the high brush by a stone wall first I got the thimble and started think "hmmm.. something was going on back here!) and then got a beautiful hit for the 1838 large cent :hello2:

Then I wandered a little more and found the well with a cool bottle next to it (unfortunately has a hole in it :-\ ).

Still having fun with this site ;D Here are the pics-

Awesome finds my sage friend! Great job and gorgeous finds.

That large cent sure didn't see much circulation before being lost!

kEEP at it and I'm almost positive this site will yield more coppers. Dig all iffy signals!

Go ahead, Bramblefind :o :laughing7: You really are getting a handle on how to hunt down great stuff at those old home sites . As you probably already know , if there is one , there are more . ;D 1838 copper is one to be proud of , very nice work . 8) 8) d aWg

LC is stunning! :icon_thumleft: Best one I have ever seen come out of the turf. Love when you homestead guys include pics of the location too. Congrats!

Thanks so much everyone! I will definitely be going back there to look for more keepers. Unfortunately the cellar hole itself is just full of trash :-\ But I bet there is treasure in there so that is motivation for sure!

I think I am hooked on digging old cellar holes now :laughing7: And the mapping and research for more will give me plenty to occupy myself with this winter :icon_thumleft:

Looks like the Silly head. 1838 LG came with 3 style of heads. Yours looks much better than ghe one I dug yesterday, CONGRATS

Yep! I called that one the Dandy - it was practically a surface find! Part of it was sticking out of the ground when I brushed the leaves off. What a fantastic signal it gave :D

Because this helps me recall the site and I just think it is interesting (at least to me!) ;D Here is a perspective of where I found that button-
