Actually, I can't really say that, the spot I wanted to go back to today was busy. Also,
I tried to hunt another trashy area but in all honesty, I just wasn't up to listening to the
amount of chatter one needs to in order to hunt there. I have to be able to give a strong
concentration to do that and today I just wasn't able.

Still, as always, the Mansion managed to give me a few surprises and even a couple firsts.

As you can see, not much. :dontknow:

It says No 12 U S Climax
A first for me.

Corroded and all, I love this find.
In all my years, this is the very first thimble
I have ever found! :)

2015 (53).jpg

Head of a roofing nail for all I know. :)

Just a clad nickel BUT! It's a COIN!
Remember, "relic" mansion. ;)

If this is what I think it is and is as old as I believe.
It's a first for me too! :)
What say the experts?

Just the back to a button but I'm not familiar with the backmarkings.
Is that a "G12" in the 11-o-clock position?

I would show the other side but, there is none. Just found the back. :dontknow:

Anyway, at least I got in one more before the latest Nor-easter. You guys up there
have my sympathy. Just stay safe so when Ole man Winter's finally finished, you'll
be able to get out and find again.

Thanks for peeking!

Congrats on your first climax:laughing7:, your first thimble and your first Cufflink. That's a lot of firsts for someone that has been detecting for as long as you. Hard to say about that button back. Might be a 12....might be IE also? Usually on the 2 pieces I have found, it's the back that disintegrates. We got 4 inches of snow last Monday and supposed to get 4 tomorrow and 2 more on Tuesday. Weatherman says we were about 10 inches below normal for snow for this winter...guess we're gonna catch up this week. Bright news ~ only 7 more weeks till we can dig again if this year is like last!

Looking at that "G12", it actually looks like it's intentionally stamped as an exponent. Like, as in, two squared.

Pretty obviously a two part button, I just found the back. :dontknow:

Thanks!

That's a nice group of finds, I always like finding those thimbles, still searching for a sterling one

Nice that ya can still dig, we're under a bit of snow up here with more to come tomorrow:BangHead:

Well.with kudos to "villagenut" over on the What Is It Forum.....here's a bit of information:

This is what it probably looked like in it's better day:

And with a little research on my own, the front "MIGHT" have looked like this:

G. & CIE
Gourdin et Compagnie . 16 Rue du Cloître St-Honoré PARIS - Successeur de Cordier 1841 - 1910

The "Relic Mansion" does it again!! :)

Congrats on your first, and kudos to Villagenut for a ID.

That would be the main reason I am on "this" site as opposed to others. The pool of knowledge here runs very, very deep! :)

One of these days I'm gonna post up something, sort of in the background and someone is going to shout:

"W.I.F. !?!?!? DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'VE GOT THERE!!!! BESIDE THE CLAD QUARTERS!!!!?"

Another thing I like about this hobby. If you think about it, one usually finds a "first" every single
time they go out!!! LOL

Thanks!

The pool is deep and I can't swim![emoji624]

Awesome finds! Congrats! Blingie looks happy that's all you need!
I have yet to score a thimble.
I don't need to go out and dig gold, I've already got it on T Net with the fantastic people on here!
The pool of knowledge is just awesome!

If any of you know how to make 3 feet of 70 mph driven snow disappear, I REALLY would appreciate that! We go into lock down at midnight no mail delivery tomorrow! .......winter, auuuugh!

Very nice hunt! The thimble is a very special find.

"Neither rain nor sleet nor gloom of night..." (Murphy notwithstanding) :dontknow:

Don't worry, those wonderful targets have been down there over a LOT of snow in 2-300 years! They'll
be awaiting for ya! :)

Just stay safe!

Thanks!

I really like the cuff-link also. And, from the portion of the area it was pulled, it just might date back to colonial times.

The button ID is pretty awesome too. Fortunately, I can go back and hunt that particular portion as much as I want. There's
a chance I just might find the rest of the button. Now, THAT, would be truly spectacular!
