Today I went back to the park where I found the 14k diamond ring yesterday and searched it for a couple of hours and ended up with about 20 clad coins totaling roughly 50¢. Then another park in a different town for about an hour and did about the same. Went home not quite satisfied and started in on my neighbors yard (again). Right along the edge of the road I found a dated Showbiz Pizza token 1990. Then just a few feet away still along the edge of the road I dug what I thought was a loud pop tab, I even pitched it out onto the road before I realized it wasn't a tab, it was a silver ring that had been smashed. At this point I'm very happy, but there's still daylight so I went up the road and knocked on an old door. The guy was nice enough to let me hunt for the last 30 minutes or so before it got dark, but I still found my first silver coin of the year, a mercury dime, I'm still unsure of its date, so it's soaking in mineral oil. We'll see, but this has been my best week yet!

*Update: after mineral oil and a toothpick, it's a 1936 mercury dime.

Congrats on some nice finds

Thanks, they are not all that nice as far as quality is concerned, but silver is silver and a ring is a ring to me.
That's ring #19 (counting the gum ball machine rings), and Mercury dime #2.

Pitched it out onto the road? Man, you should get a trash bag or next time, you'll just end up finding it again. LOL

Great finds! The Showbiz Pizza coin brought back some memories. I forgot about that place... only thing left in my brain was "chuck-e-Cheese"

Thinking back, I remember they had a stage with robots that would turn on and play. Fun times. :)

I was just knocking the dirt off but wouldn't normally throw a piece of silver on the asphalt, no matter how beat up it is.

Those robots you are thinking of was the Rock Afire Explosion, enjoy.

Love the Merc, have you tried the boiling water, baking soda and aluminum foil method on it?
