OK, I'm editing this post since I typed something about these finds, but it never made it to the original post...(?)
All of the finds were found in upstate New York (yes, about 8 miles NE of Dannemora!). Had no Wi-Fi for several days this weekend, but couldn't wait to post the finds when I got to "Wi-Fi country" and ask some questions. The top two row of finds were found underwater in Lake Champlain (3-5 feet); lots of work in cold water. The bottom rows of finds were dug in front of an old house located ~ 200 yards inland. The sites saw heavy Rev War and War of 1812 activity. Questions...
- what military branch is the cockade from? I believe it's missing a piece underneath (maybe a rectangle shape). It rang up as a 52-54 on the AT Pro (nickel range) and I believe it's pewter.
- I know the button is Light Artillery, 1st Regiment; but what does the small "D" stand for...dragoons?
- what is the "Mother-of-Pearl" piece? It looks like a cufflink or tie pin for a tuxedo. I date it to late 19th century.
Thank, and apologies for the original missing text.
