Hi Guys, been a while since I detected but last month I dusted off the trusty Nox 800 and hit the field.

Been twice so far, only a couple of hours each hunt but I really enjoyed being back in the field.

Had some good luck too, first hunt yielded a commonwealth penny(I think it's a penny) and yesterday a lovely silver Roman that looks like it was dropped yesterday ๐Ÿ˜.

If you recognise the Roman then please post.

Thanks.

M ANTONINVS AVG TR P XXVIII = Marcus Aurelius Denarius

A Commonwealth Penny is pretty scarce compared to the Half Groat.

Close but your Obverse inscription, ends VIII (not VII)
Reverse: Victory walking Right holding Wreath & Trophy.
Ref: RIC287
Which makes it AD173-74

Hey Crusader, good to see you are still around. Yeah I have the half groat commonwealth too,.never seen the penny one before so assumed they didn't come up too often.
Thanks for the Roman ID ๐Ÿ‘

Pretty sure we have only had 2 Pennies ever. Quite a few half groats.

Yeap, still on a Crusade to Grid-on. Just got permission to carry on a pea crop until they are big enough to break, so we have a while left to do this new amazing field. (14 hammered in 9 hrs 15mins)

If you need a hand on that field, then let me know. ๐Ÿ™
