i found this while hunting near a old house sight . it is made of copper i think and has no holes in it . the back is plain and has no signs of welding on it .any ideal what it came off of the top and bottem seem to have flat tips that seem to slid in to something thanks bjb

Is it broken on the upper right side. Even if it is, is doesn't look to have the same design on that side as the left side has...

Intresting fond.

The bottom LOOKS like it may have inserted into something else or is snapped off.

I'll Guess Gate Finial if not snapped off.

Lightening rod finial if it is.

Is that the number 1 near the bottom?
If it has tabs on top and bottom, it could have been inserted on the front of a jewelry box,dresser,(on tracks like a barn door,but top and bottom ), to slide sideways ,which would then reveal the key hole for the lock.

is the back flat? as there is no holes for attachment,is the any signs of(not holes)tab's,spike's,etc.? i only ask because i've seen similar items use for 18th/19th.century furniture adornments...tokenhead
